Job Overview

The Juvenile Case Management Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the personnel and operations of the assigned unit. This role ensures compliance with relevant state and federal regulations, as well as departmental policies. The supervisor will engage in research, program planning, and the establishment of unit objectives. Direct supervision of youth in secure facilities may be required, along with administrative oversight in the absence of higher management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly manages the daily activities of staff responsible for supervising and monitoring juvenile clients. This includes hiring, training, and evaluating employee performance, as well as providing necessary counseling and disciplinary actions.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload, ensuring that all tasks are performed in accordance with established laws and policies. Monitors progress to meet departmental objectives.
  • Assesses and recommends changes to office policies and procedures, prepares analytical reports, and assists in budget planning.
  • Offers guidance to staff on complex client issues and ensures high-quality service delivery.
  • Conducts program development and evaluation to address the specialized needs of the unit.
  • May manage a caseload, performing case reviews and maintaining accurate records.
  • Handles complaints from clients and stakeholders, working to resolve issues effectively.
  • Coordinates with other divisions and represents the department in inter-agency activities.
  • May oversee administrative tasks and staff meetings, providing leadership in the absence of senior management.
  • Ensures safety and security within facilities, maintaining accountability for all clients and resources.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field, along with four years of relevant experience in social services or juvenile agencies, including one year in a supervisory role.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Texas Driver's License. Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer and Juvenile Supervision Officer is required within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure as a Social Worker, Professional Counselor, or Marriage and Family Therapist is preferred. A Master's degree in a related field is also desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of family law and court systems.
  • Proficient in management principles and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making.
Work Environment

Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry items, maintain visual acuity, and perform various physical tasks. The role may involve exposure to challenging behaviors and stressful situations.
