Job Summary

The Texas Juvenile Justice Department is seeking a highly skilled Grant Specialist V - County Grants Fiscal Administrator to join our team. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the preparation, maintenance, and reporting of grants, including budgeting and accounting for juvenile justice grants disbursed to Texas juvenile probation departments.
  • Coordinate the submission and review of required grant budgets, disbursements, and expenditure reports.
  • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and availability of funds.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to grant recipients, including juvenile probation departments and county auditors' offices.
  • Collaborate with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and other state and federal government entities to ensure effective grant management.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and standards for grant department functions and activities.
  • Perform a variety of related duties as needed, including conducting on-site reviews and evaluations of juvenile probation department fiscal program operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in public administration, business, or a related field.
  • Four years of full-time wage-earning experience in the administration, development, coordination, and monitoring of grants.
  • Certification as a Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public administration, business, or a related field, and certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP).
Working Conditions

The Grant Specialist V - County Grants Fiscal Administrator will work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, requiring strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks. The position may require travel and work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
