Overview:
As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for welcoming preoperative surgical patients and their families. Your role will involve facilitating patient check-in through our SMARTRACK system, ensuring a smooth transition to their assigned rooms prior to surgery. You will also serve as a guide for families, helping them understand the SMARTRACK communication display in the waiting area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Telephone Management: Efficiently handle incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate personnel. Ensure that the phone is always attended, demonstrating knowledge in call transfers and clear communication.
  • Patient Check-In: Accurately input patient information into the SMARTRACK system, ensuring a seamless flow from check-in to admission for ambulatory surgery.
  • Admission Assistance: Identify preoperative patients accurately and apply ID bands as necessary. Collect and copy pharmacy and insurance cards to aid in the discharge process.

Family Communication:
Act as a liaison for patients' families, providing updates on surgical progress. Help families interpret the SMARTRACK communication screen and inform staff when family members are waiting for updates.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the role.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in a receptionist or office clerk role. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in person and over the phone.

Working Conditions:
Some manual dexterity is required, with minimal occupational risk. The role involves light physical effort, with the potential to exert up to 10 lbs. of force. The working environment is generally pleasant.
