Customer Service Clerk
Position Objective:
To enhance the shopping experience for customers by delivering the most efficient and courteous service possible.
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Office Manager.
Status:
This is a non-exempt position.
Knowledge Requirements:
The following outlines the necessary certifications, education, or training for this role.
Essential Knowledge:
- A liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day of work (if applicable).
- Completion of ongoing training as outlined in the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and uphold the Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
- Ensure team members are informed about policy changes, new products, and sales information.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of store products to accurately assist customer inquiries.
- Safely operate, clean, and maintain all equipment.
- Meet or exceed productivity benchmarks to achieve desired team and individual outcomes.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the front end for customers.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and price adjustments efficiently and courteously.
- Monitor front end activities and make necessary adjustments to meet customer needs.
- Provide prompt assistance to cashiers during customer transactions.
- Step into a cashier role as needed to ensure a friendly and convenient shopping experience.
- Address customer complaints professionally and recognize when to involve management.
- Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures relevant to the department and store.
- Adhere to governmental regulations regarding weights and measures, alcohol and tobacco sales, and food assistance programs.
- Exhibit strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions with customers and peers.
- Demonstrate basic math and reading skills necessary for the role.
- Promote advertisements and specials to enhance store sales and profitability.
- Under the Office Manager's guidance, navigate the Kronos system for timely report submissions and collaborate effectively with the Accounting Team.
- Support the organization by completing additional tasks as directed by management and assisting other departments as needed.
The following physical activities may be part of scheduled shifts, and employees are expected to perform these actions while on duty.
Essential Physical Abilities:- Push and pull grocery items and carts as needed, with a peak force of up to 10 lbs.
- Stand and walk for extended periods on various hard surfaces.
- Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. to a height of 34 inches.
- Bend and squat, occasionally reaching floor level.
- Climb a ladder, potentially up to 5 ft.
