Job Summary

As a key member of the Cherokee Nation team, the successful candidate will provide essential support to the Syringe Services Program (SSP) by delivering sterile syringes, harm reduction supplies, and educational resources to program participants. This role requires a strong commitment to harm reduction principles and a passion for working with diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide education and support to program participants on safe injection practices, sharps disposal, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of educational programs and materials relevant to the program.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to promote the program and its services.
  • Assist with the coordination of care for program participants, including referrals to additional health services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in harm reduction and public health.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized training or education in a related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in a related field, such as public health, social work, or community outreach.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to harm reduction principles and a passion for working with diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lived experience with substance misuse and/or abuse, injection drug use experience preferred.
  • Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification or willingness to obtain within the first nine months of employment.
  • Basic technology proficiency and ability to use computer and technology to communicate and enter data.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
