Job Summary

As a Residential Advisor with Cherokee Nation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and success of our students. This position requires a unique blend of leadership, guidance, and support to create a safe and inclusive living environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist students in maintaining a clean and orderly dorm atmosphere, ensuring a safe and comfortable living space.
  • Identify and initiate work requests for building maintenance needs and safety concerns, collaborating with maintenance staff to address issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including a running log of significant events affecting students, to ensure accountability and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide individual guidance and support to students, serving as a role model for behavior and character.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a Social Training Achievement Record (STAR) for each student, identifying special needs and making referrals as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent required; one year of experience working with adolescents preferred.
  • Knowledge of database software and word processing software essential.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report, meeting Cherokee Nation underwriting rating requirements.
  • Must not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or the General Services Administration (GSA).
  • Meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
Physical Demands

The Residential Advisor position requires regular standing, walking, and use of hands to perform duties. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The Residential Advisor will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
