Sparks, Nevada, United States Tesla Full time

Tesla's esteemed Cell Manufacturing Engineering division is in search of a dedicated Senior Program Manager to lead an innovative project. In this role, you will oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring the successful development and implementation of new automated manufacturing systems while also managing the scaling of existing ones. This encompasses everything from conceptualization and design to installation, integration, ramp-up, and transition to production. Your engineering expertise will be crucial in understanding the manufacturing line, construction prerequisites, equipment, process and product specifications, technical risks, deployment strategies, and ramp-up plans, all of which will inform the manufacturing program strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of projects from concept to production handover, serving as the primary point of contact.

• Manage the project roadmap within the overall program framework. Develop and drive manufacturing program strategies, defining scope, schedule, resource needs, and budget targets. Provide comprehensive project updates, emphasizing status, risks, mitigations, and opportunities to all management levels.

• Establish and manage goals, deliverables, risks, and mitigations across various cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, controls, process, quality, infrastructure, and logistics, throughout all project phases: concept development, prototype testing, engineering design, system assembly, integration, testing, commissioning, and ramp-up.

• Prioritize project tasks based on timelines, risks, resources, and returns. Monitor project status and action items against the schedule, identifying innovative solutions to overcome challenges and meet deadlines. Continuously refine processes and methodologies to align with team needs.

• Oversee the evaluation, selection, budgeting, and scheduling of external vendors and integrators for the delivery of the defined manufacturing project scope. Foster vendor partnerships in collaboration with supply chain and procurement teams, ensuring alignment on engineering specifications, scope, schedule, and costs.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, along with substantial relevant experience.

• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, encompassing both engineering and project management roles.

• Proven track record in managing engineering projects for mass-produced items.

• Ability to collaborate across functions and lead large teams effectively.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, occasionally for extended periods.

• Familiarity with Battery Cell technology is advantageous.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, or other 2D/3D design software is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

As a full-time Tesla employee, you will enjoy a competitive compensation package and a range of benefits from day one, including:
