  • Diagnose and rectify processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software, implementing necessary changes and improvements.
  • Create training materials, maintenance schedules, and relevant documentation for equipment lifecycle management.
  • Champion safety and ergonomic enhancements for production equipment, adhering to or surpassing regulations and best practices.
  • Identify critical spare parts for equipment and ensure adequate inventory to prevent prolonged downtime.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to third-party machine/automation suppliers and/or Tesla's internal machine-building team; participate in supplier/internal equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Develop and manage Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments to prioritize equipment improvement initiatives and ensure effective repair strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in equipment utilizing laser welding, materials, and vision systems. Strong hands-on experience in pilot and high-volume manufacturing, including practical knowledge in selecting related hardware and software.
  • Proven experience in resolving complex automation and software system challenges with limited documentation to troubleshoot, develop process expertise, and initiate improvement projects.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to manufacturing process development.
  • Structured analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through multiple root cause analyses following a data-driven approach; familiarity with statistical software (JMP) is a plus.
  • Experience in 3D CAD design for production equipment, including layout creation/validation, tooling drawings, and pneumatic and electrical schematics. Knowledge of PLC programming is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed; knowledge of Battery Cell technology is a plus.
