Role Summary:

With cutting-edge battery designs and state-of-the-art manufacturing lines, Panasonic is producing millions of batteries daily to support the electric vehicle and energy storage sectors. Essential Duties:

  • Engage with Panasonic's Battery Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for ensuring smooth operations in battery production while continuously seeking improvements in productivity, quality, and cost metrics.
  • Provide engineering support for daily production activities, focusing on optimizing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) to enhance productivity and minimize defects.
  • Utilize production data effectively to manage tasks and activities.
  • Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills to resolve unforeseen issues promptly.
  • Address real-time production challenges to maintain output and reduce defects.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to coordinate a range of maintenance activities.
  • Work alongside engineering and maintenance teams to develop lasting solutions to recurring manufacturing issues.
  • Implement and expand new solutions within production lines.
  • Monitor and audit manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with product specifications and standards.
  • Apply technical expertise to create clear work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support the implementation of industrial automation in manufacturing.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To maintain workplace safety, wearing PPE may be necessary, which could include items such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and other protective gear.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or GED
  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated exceptional ability in engineering responsibilities within a manufacturing setting.
  • Capability to work on production shift schedules.
  • Able to train manufacturing operators on new or updated processes.
  • Flexibility to perform duties in both manufacturing and office environments.
  • Proficient in machine and process troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD, mechanical drawings, and process diagrams.
  • Experience in designing fixtures and jigs.
  • Ability to enhance equipment maintainability.
  • Possess engineering skills in process development, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Skilled in identifying critical process parameters and knowledgeable in FTA and FMEA methodologies.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, particularly in collaborating with direct labor to address challenges and develop optimal solutions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and follow up with minimal direction.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while delivering quality results.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to providing excellent internal and external customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with control strategies, PLCs, and sensor/actuator relationships.
  • Background in industrial data analysis or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with machine shops and fabrication processes.
  • Experience in coordinating with contractors.
  • Knowledge of six sigma methodologies and tools.
