Position Summary

Successful sales representatives at The Ground Up possess a competitive spirit geared towards problem-solving and financial achievement. They instinctively pursue client challenges and the rewards that come with overcoming them.

The Sales Representative II is a proactive individual with a professional demeanor who thrives on establishing robust business relationships aimed at earning client trust and delivering valuable products. This role employs a consultative method to service accounts, providing optimal product solutions for landscaping projects that significantly enhance our business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Prospecting and Business Development:

  • Identify new business opportunities through various channels including cold outreach, email campaigns, industry events, networking, and social media.
  • Conduct a specified number of prospecting calls weekly.
  • Analyze market data from competitors, industry reports, and sales opportunities.
  • Exhibit strong listening skills, ask insightful questions, and demonstrate a commitment to closing sales for the benefit of the customer.

Account Management:

  • Proactively recognize and leverage opportunities to expand sales with existing and prospective clients.
  • Utilize available tools and technology, such as CRM systems, to monitor the sales pipeline and account interactions.
  • Manage a portfolio of wholesale accounts while developing new accounts within a designated territory.

Marketing:

  • Formulate marketing strategies to enhance the commercialization of TGU packaged products to garden centers and commercial landscape contractors.
  • Support public relations initiatives with various media outlets and events.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through various communication channels.

Customer Service and Product Knowledge:

  • Acquire in-depth product knowledge to effectively educate customers about our offerings and recommend suitable products for their needs.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and requirements, whether in person or through digital platforms.

Hands-On Responsibilities:

  • Provide product information to walk-in customers in the showroom and yard.
  • Prepare inventory orders for customer collection or delivery.
  • Process transactions efficiently and accurately.

Reporting:

  • Communicate with the sales and account management team regarding new account developments.
  • Generate daily reports and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant sales experience with a proven track record.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent sales presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with nursery products such as plants, trees, and landscaping materials.
  • Sales experience in a garden center or related field is advantageous.
  • Educational background in horticulture, agriculture, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing is a plus.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting 15 lbs. or more occasionally.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and pushing/pulling.

Work Environment:

  • Daily exposure to dust and dirt.
  • Moderate noise typical of an office setting.
