POSITION SUMMARY

The Automotive Technician is responsible for conducting essential inspections, diagnostics, and repair services for vehicles, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction while adhering to safety protocols during the operation of tools and machinery. This role also involves managing inventory and assisting in the upkeep of the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates tire balancing and mounting equipment, repairs tire issues, performs rotations, and conducts diagnostic assessments to evaluate tire performance.
  • Maintains knowledge of tire products to manage inventory, procedures, and logistics effectively.
  • Conducts oil changes and visual inspections, including checks under the hood and vehicle chassis.
  • Executes basic replacement tasks such as battery and filter installations, wiper blade changes, and bulb replacements.
  • Performs alignments and fluid flushes for cooling systems, power steering, and transmissions using appropriate tools.
  • Identifies basic diagnostic issues, including noise or vibration concerns, following road tests.
  • Assists in maintaining the facility by adhering to proper opening and closing protocols and performing general maintenance tasks.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Utilizes various tools safely and effectively, including tire machines, balancers, lube equipment, lifts, and diagnostic instruments necessary for the Automotive Technician role.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this position, candidates must possess the following:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Fundamental automotive services knowledge
  • Understanding of starting and charging systems
  • Familiarity with automotive maintenance and tire services
  • Basic automotive diagnostic skills

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to comprehend and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of producing routine reports and correspondence.

MATH AND REASONING SKILLS

Competence in basic arithmetic operations and problem-solving in varied situations with limited standardization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role demands physical capabilities, including standing, walking, and using hands to operate tools. Regular lifting of weights up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of heavier items is required. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is dynamic, with exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, and varying weather conditions. Employees typically work 40 hours per week, including some Saturdays and occasional evenings.
