Job Overview

The Clinical Coordinator acts as a key administrative liaison and resource within the healthcare practice, facilitating, coordinating, and supervising the patient care process. Required Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum Experience: 3 Years of clinical practice (At least 2 Years of experience in specialty areas or related medical environments within the last 5 years)
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): An ASN/ADN degree with 3 years of clinical experience can be substituted for the following combinations: Bachelors in Nursing with 2 years of experience in specialty areas within the last 5 years.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina; Current CPR Certification.
Required Training: Demonstrates foundational first aid knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitates, coordinates, and supervises the patient care process. Maintains a positive demeanor while interacting with individuals in other departments or external entities; tact is essential in these interactions to foster harmonious relationships. Effectively communicates necessary information to patients and caregivers. Responds promptly to all patient and office staff inquiries and needs. Oversees medication management tasks as directed by the physician, including but not limited to injections, administration of sample medications, and patient medication education. Responsible for preparing and maintaining examination rooms, removing outdated medications and supplies, and ensuring adequate stock levels. Adheres to all equipment cleaning and sterilization protocols and ensures compliance among clinical staff. Rooms patients, conducts assessments, assists with procedures, implements physician orders, provides patient education, and accurately documents clinical information. Operates and maintains equipment (including routine maintenance, supply ordering, log sheets, and cleaning) and provides input on equipment selection. Complies with all departmental policies and procedures and ensures staff adherence. Obtains necessary precertifications and authorizations. Adheres to all coding documentation requirements to facilitate proper billing. Provides statistical reports to the Practice Manager and Physicians as required. Assesses human resource needs and plans and evaluates employee activities to ensure safe, effective, and fiscally responsible operations. Manages human resources to ensure safe and effective operations. Reallocates nursing staff to address patient care needs.

Additional Duties

Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with personnel in a manner that promotes positive employee development and performance. Provides input and assists in evaluating nursing staff performance during probationary periods and annual appraisals. Recommends and initiates personnel actions for performance-related issues through appropriate channels and procedures. Follows up on performance issues within assigned areas of responsibility. Identifies educational needs of nursing staff and contributes to educational program development. Sets an example for clinical staff by ensuring all personal certification and mandatory education requirements are fulfilled. Communicates effectively throughout the practice and with other departments. Keeps the Manager informed of activities through oral and written communication. Collaborates with staff, physicians, midlevel providers, and others to enhance effective problem-solving. Clarifies and interprets administrative, personnel, and nursing services policies and procedures. Represents nursing staff at various meetings and serves on committees as assigned. Sets an example for clinical staff by fully utilizing electronic health records and other electronic communication systems for information dissemination. Answers telephones (answering, transferring), takes messages, performs phone triage, and updates providers as necessary. Identifies ineffective routines, interventions, and systems that do not contribute to desired outcomes and takes action to amend these practices. Contributes to the evaluation and improvement of processes and participates in departmental quality initiatives. Understands and agrees to comply with relevant health and safety regulatory agencies. Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as required in emergencies, such as fire or disaster.
