Position Overview:

We are in search of an experienced and driven Systems Application Engineer to enhance our innovative team. This position offers flexibility in work location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support for both internal and client-facing web applications across various operating systems including Solaris, Oracle Linux, and Windows.
  • Collaborate with global teams, encompassing Solaris and Linux Server Administration, Cyber Security, and Network Operations.
  • Address Production system challenges, engage in troubleshooting, manage security vulnerabilities, apply patches, and ensure the stability and reliability of applications.

Expectations:
  • Engage in application operations management within Linux systems, executing UNIX commands for both production and non-production environments.
  • Deliver Tier III administrative support as needed; investigate and resolve Production issues.
  • Plan and execute major version upgrades for Application Servers such as Tomcat and Apache Web Server.
  • Adhere to change control protocols to facilitate application releases.
  • Address application and software-related security vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze and optimize server parameters to enhance application performance.
  • Support operational excellence by identifying ongoing issues, conducting root-cause analyses, and collaborating with Problem Management for service improvements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Perform routine maintenance and health monitoring, writing Linux/UNIX Shell Scripts as necessary.
  • Resolve issues related to application performance, disk space, process hangs, and other operational challenges.
  • Manage infrastructure-related requests, such as DNS registrations and SSL certificates.
  • Be flexible with working hours to provide 24/5 support and participate in weekend on-call rotations.
Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience managing application servers in a corporate setting.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Oracle Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with public cloud management, particularly AWS.
  • Solid understanding of Windows server environments.
  • Comprehension of 3-tier or high availability application architecture.
  • Knowledge of network topology and associated technologies.
  • Proficient in F5 Load Balancer, Firewalls, DNS, and related technologies.
  • Experience with WebLogic and other web/application servers.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and proficiency in using ticketing systems like ServiceNow for incident and change management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with international teams.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience with incident and change management tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Background in hosting enterprise applications on AWS; Azure experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a global enterprise environment.
  • Documentation skills related to application architecture in production settings.
  • Familiarity with application and server monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of web application security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
  • A degree in Computer Science or relevant certifications from a recognized technology program.
