Systems Safety Engineer | EVTOL
In this position, you will be responsible for developing, leading, and maintaining system requirements and reliability initiatives in partnership with engineering leaders. Your role will involve collaborating across multiple functions, leveraging your extensive knowledge of systems engineering to facilitate the advancement of intricate systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct reliability assessments and failure analyses, leading qualification efforts for product introductions.
- Work closely with engineering teams to evaluate product reliability, utilizing insights to improve performance and guide the reliability of upcoming products.
- Design and validate system requirements and verification matrices for eVTOL aircraft.
- Oversee the validation and documentation of system and subsystem-level requirements.
- Manage requirements traceability and evolution throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Assess system performance thresholds and provide strategic guidance.
- Contribute to the development of models and simulation analyses.
- Effectively review and interpret customer specifications to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Identify, analyze, and address weaknesses in system design.
- Influence the future product development by contributing to the architectural framework utilized across various systems.
- Establish and lead a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process that incorporates continuous learning into functional requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers on compliance evaluations, system interface definitions, and related requirements.
- Ensure that any gaps in verification and validation plans are promptly addressed while maintaining project timelines.
- Engage with the testing team to create comprehensive verification and validation (V&V) test plans that encompass all requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in a systems development environment, including requirements development, FMEA, compliance standards, and V&V test planning.
- 5+ years of combined experience in reliability and systems engineering, or aerospace engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to manage requirements traceability and evolution throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Experience in providing effective weekly status updates on system development progress, including requirements burn down.
- Proficient in developing system test plans, procedures, and reports, with the capability to review and interpret specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, prioritizing team success over individual interests.
