Position Title: Youth Empowerment Specialist

Role Summary:

CASES is in search of a dedicated Youth Empowerment Specialist focused on enhancing alternative-to-incarceration initiatives for young individuals aged 16-27 through our ROAR program. This role is pivotal in fostering and sustaining connections with participants and community partners. The Youth Empowerment Specialist will provide engagement services and ongoing support throughout the participant's journey in the program. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Specialist will deliver comprehensive services tailored to participants' needs. All team members are committed to an Alternative To Incarceration framework that empowers at-risk youth to develop the skills and confidence necessary for life transformation. This program is designed to help young individuals achieve educational and employment goals while improving their community relationships. The Youth Empowerment Specialist will advocate for participant success and equity through culturally sensitive service delivery that addresses the unique challenges faced by youth involved in the criminal justice system. The role requires expertise in youth development, trauma-informed practices, gender-responsive services, resilience building, young adult education, and strengths-based assessment and service planning.

Compensation: The annual salary for this position is $52,000.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Location: The office is conveniently accessible via public transportation.

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible working arrangements are available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build rapport with participants to facilitate service plans and ensure ongoing support throughout their program involvement.
  • Collaborate with the ROAR Orientation group to ensure new participants have a thorough understanding of program expectations and opportunities.
  • Facilitate substance use support groups utilizing evidence-based curricula.
  • Lead outreach initiatives to assist participants requiring additional support to engage with their service plans.
  • Work with team members to coordinate community benefit and service projects.
  • Deliver services that embrace diversity and address the disparities faced by program participants.
  • Conduct outreach when participants need extra assistance, including home visits and community engagement.
  • Develop service plans in partnership with participants, addressing their needs and establishing measurable goals.
  • Maintain a caseload to track participant progress for reporting purposes.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with community stakeholders who can provide relevant services to participants.
  • Engage in team meetings and collaborative service planning, as well as borough-based meetings, supervision, and training.
  • Provide crisis response services as necessary.
  • Adapt work hours as needed to meet participant requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 3-4 years of experience working with youth or young adults in similar environments, or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in planning activities, facilitating groups, and mentoring youth and young adults.
  • Experience in documenting services provided.
  • Ability to adapt to meet the needs of participants.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
