Position Overview

The YEP Enrichment Program Assistant will play a vital role within the enrichment team, assisting in the execution of YEP's core enrichment programming, which includes Sports & Recreation, Academics, Music & Arts, and Health & Wellness. This position involves providing daily supervision to youth participants and collaborating with staff to prepare and deliver engaging activities while ensuring the effective maintenance of the program space and resources.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Duties:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality enrichment programming for youth participants.
  • Assist in planning and executing special events and holiday celebrations for youth and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, community members, and partner organizations as needed.
  • Help set up snacks, meals, and activities according to the weekly program schedule.
  • Maintain the Youth Center in good condition, ensuring supplies and equipment are well-stocked and functional.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of youth participants at all times.
  • Foster positive relationships with each youth in your care and encourage connections among participants.
  • Address inappropriate behaviors and consult with supervisors regarding any ongoing issues.
  • Model positive social behaviors for youth.
  • Collaborate effectively with YEP staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Document services provided to youth participants in the appropriate database.
  • Participate in regular meetings with your direct supervisor.
Content Area Support:
  • Collaborate to plan and implement onsite programming and activities.
  • Assist in organizing offsite field trips and outings, ensuring adequate supervision.
  • Work with the YEP Enrichment team to integrate health and wellness, sports and recreation, music and arts, and educational activities into afterschool and summer camp schedules.
  • Coordinate with external contractors to enhance youth engagement in facilitated programming.
  • Assist in administering surveys and assessments related to the enrichment programming.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with school-aged youth in structured programming environments.
  • A collaborative approach, comfortable working within a team to achieve objectives.
  • Proven ability to follow through on assigned tasks to completion.
  • Proficient in using computers and technology to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Availability to work during specified hours, including occasional weekends for special events.
  • Familiarity with community resources relevant to the local area.
  • Commitment to the organizational values and goals of YEP.
Training:

All Program Assistants will receive comprehensive on-the-job training from experienced YEP Enrichment staff. Additional training will occur during the initial weeks, along with ongoing professional development opportunities.
