Position Overview

The State of Vermont's Buildings & General Services (BGS) is offering a remarkable opportunity for growth as a Facilities Maintenance Specialist within the Operations & Management Division. This role entails the essential custodial responsibilities at various state facilities, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance standards are upheld.

As part of a collaborative team, you will be responsible for maintaining the Costello Court House and potentially other state-owned locations in the Burlington area. This position may require travel between sites, utilizing either a state-owned or personal vehicle. Candidates must successfully complete multiple background checks and possess a valid driver's license.

This is a full-time role with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 4am to 12:30pm.

Work Environment

Responsibilities are performed during assigned shifts at one or more state-owned or leased properties. Cleaning tasks may involve handling potentially hazardous materials, and incumbents should be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical fitness is essential, as the role requires climbing ladders and lifting weights up to 50 lbs. Overtime and evening shifts may be necessary.

Qualifications

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in building custodial work, including floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet cleaning, is required.

Alternatively, candidates may qualify with one (1) year of experience as a BGS Custodian I.

Special Requirements

Some positions may necessitate a valid driver's license and personal transportation for travel between work locations.
Candidates must successfully pass any applicable background investigation.
