Role Summary:
The National Yard Operations Manager, under the guidance of the Head of Operations, USA, is responsible for the strategic oversight and enhancement of yard operations throughout DOKA USA's stockyards. This role encompasses key areas such as logistics, reconditioning, pre-assembly, hydraulics, machinery, and inventory management, with a strong emphasis on on-site engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and rectify inefficiencies within yard processes.
  • Collaborate with Branch Operations to formulate their One-Year Plans (OYP), establishing strategic yard operations objectives using SMART criteria, while identifying essential skill sets for branch YOP leaders and facilitating their development.
  • Lead national initiatives such as "Always Inventory Ready" and "Accelerated Return Processing," while monitoring application usage KPIs and supporting the National Operations Team in implementing digital solutions.
  • Conduct monthly evaluations of branch quality self-assessments and perform regular audits to uphold high material standards, ensuring compliance with Quality Standards (GS) and Work Instructions (WI).
  • Identify avenues for optimizing the product portfolio and assist in strategic divestment decisions, while reviewing monthly productivity metrics and offering enhancement suggestions.
  • Educate yard operations and logistics teams on the fundamentals of DISCOS, highlighting the correlation between physical movements and system entries for optimal inventory management.
  • Disseminate knowledge and resources to ensure adherence to DOKA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including material cycle and inventory counts.
  • Travel to various branch locations to spearhead reconditioning, return processing, and order fulfillment as required.
  • Encourage budget awareness and its integration into YOP decision-making processes.
  • Oversee the tracking of pre-assembly production metrics across all branches, creating a centralized database for improved capacity planning and scheduling.
  • Manage the Certify Welder Program, ensuring adherence to quality, process, and workstation standards.
  • Provide insights and data for Operational Jour Fixe discussions, advocating for the needs of DOKA USA YOP in leadership forums.
  • Develop a recurring task list for YOP leadership and mentor branches on organizational development based on their operational maturity.
  • Facilitate YOP-related directives from Group Management, including process modifications and material quality assessments.
  • Maintain records for forklift and truck fleets, contributing to the development of an investment strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager USA to ensure comprehensive training and certification for all personnel operating equipment and performing tasks in compliance with relevant regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to travel extensively, with potential for prolonged stays at branch locations to support material management and workflow optimization.
  • Engagement in facility and equipment management meetings as necessary.
  • Contribute to various projects and committees as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is essential; a degree in Engineering, Economics, or Business is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the industrial, commercial, construction, or building materials sector is required, with proven expertise in Doka yard management and comprehensive knowledge of DISCOS.
  • Ability to operate independently and deliver results with minimal oversight.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills are necessary to navigate a dynamic work environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Understanding and compliance with building and safety codes, including OSHA regulations.
  • Flexibility to lead teams and engage in hands-on tasks as needed.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of English (speaking, reading, writing); proficiency in Spanish and German is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities, technical skills, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to learn new products, concepts, and methodologies.
