Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Unit Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our Training Operations Division, you will be responsible for managing inventory, coordinating supplies, and providing technical assistance to ensure the smooth operation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain inventory records, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to requisition and order supplies, ensuring compliance with DPS and state guidelines.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for inventory management, ensuring alignment with divisional needs and processes.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to internal program staff, explaining and providing guidance on agency and program requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of inventory records, reports, and specialized projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Identify areas for quality improvement and implement process changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending work regularly and observing approved work hours.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in inventory management, with a focus on purchasing, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of TXDPS, state, and federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new software and systems.
Working Conditions

The physical and environmental demands of this position include:

  • Ambulatory skills, including standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Hand-eye coordination and arm/hand/finger dexterity.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and exercise visual acuity.
  • Ability to transfer weights of 25 pounds.
  • Driving requirements: Extensive (10%).
