Job Title: Behavioral Therapist

This role requires an associate's degree or higher. The position is a 3:45-6pm shift.

Autism Behavioral Health has three center locations around Connecticut, providing services in home and community settings throughout the state.

We work with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, promoting autism awareness and acceptance in the community.

Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients by providing treatment interventions that foster personal development and facilitate living a full, dignified life.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provide in-home or center-based services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as determined by the Clinical Manager and Director's discretion.
  2. Implement Applied Behavior Analysis treatment (ABA), including behavior management, discrete trial training, pivotal response training, social skills, and parent education.
  3. Collect data using an accurate and proper data collection system throughout each session.
  4. Attend family and team meetings as directed by the Clinical Manager.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned or approved by the Clinical Manager or Clinical Director.
Requirements:
  • Prefers a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or other related fields.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Presents a professional demeanor, is well-organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent time management skills.
  • Can maintain professional boundaries and composure, working well under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in culturally and linguistically diverse families in low and high socioeconomic status areas.
  • Can politely interact with individuals and families who may be uncooperative or aloof.
  • Can maintain professionalism when dealing with clients who aggress, self-injure, tantrum, scream, etc.
  • Can implement behavior modification strategies and discrete trial teaching under agency supervision.
  • Effectively communicates with others (clients, family members, agency staff, etc.).
  • Can accept, follow, and implement direction from agency representatives.
  • Can stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend over, crouch down, walk, and sit/play on the floor for an extended period.
  • Can lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds without assistance from another adult.
  • Has reliable transportation and current liability insurance for the vehicle.
