Job Overview

The part-time Educational Technology Support Coordinator offers assistance in academic technology for students and faculty. This role encompasses addressing and resolving inquiries related to the Learning Management System (LMS) through various channels including online, phone, and in-person support. Additionally, this position involves the creation and implementation of routine survey projects for student course evaluations across the institution. Other administrative responsibilities include maintaining departmental training records and standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide help desk assistance for faculty and students regarding Canvas and other educational technologies.
  2. Guide students in navigating Canvas and the online learning environment.
  3. Develop academic technology support materials for students.
  4. Design and implement routine student course evaluations and other surveys as needed.
  5. Maintain records of faculty training and distance education course evaluations.
  6. Contribute to the development and upkeep of departmental standards of practice.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Associate's degree
  • One year of experience working directly with a learning management system (such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L, etc.) in a student, instructor, or administrative capacity.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of experience in technology help desk support
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365: SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and/or Teams
  • Experience with electronic survey tools (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Watermark, Google/Microsoft Forms)
  • Experience working with students and faculty in a higher education setting
Skills and Abilities:

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Capability to independently resolve user issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Technical Skills:

To perform this job successfully, candidates should possess an intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft and/or other web-based software applications. Proficiency in typing and file organization on a Windows PC is expected.

Communication Skills:

Successful candidates should be able to read and comprehend instructions, short messages, and emails. They should be capable of writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Reasoning Ability:

Successful candidates should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and manage both standardized situations and those with frequent variables.

Mathematical Skills:

Candidates must be able to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
