Position Overview

Role Summary: The Mechanical Engineering Leader plays a pivotal role in overseeing the mechanical engineering division at Adaptec Solutions LLC. This role emphasizes the creation of superior automation systems and solutions that align with client expectations and financial constraints, while also contributing to the company's revenue enhancement. Key responsibilities encompass the design, documentation, and validation of innovative designs and processes, alongside the enhancement of existing solutions and the leadership of the mechanical engineering team.

Collaboration with various stakeholders, including the PMO Manager, Project Managers, Supply Chain Manager, Operations Managers, and fellow Engineering Managers, is essential to ensure alignment with the organization’s objectives. The ideal candidate will foster a cooperative atmosphere focused on teamwork, establishing standardized practices and a unified culture across all operational sites.

Team Structure: This role will directly supervise approximately 4 Mechanical Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage analytical tools such as Excel and Power BI to discern trends and inform strategic decisions.
  • Establish and track KPIs to enhance project outcomes.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technical staff, promoting a culture of innovation and ongoing improvement.
  • Formulate and implement engineering strategies that align with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee professional development initiatives for the engineering team.
  • Standardize engineering designs and operational workflows.
  • Effectively manage resource allocation, ensuring alignment of tasks with team members' skills.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff.
  • Encourage engineering solutions that balance technical specifications with budgetary considerations.
  • Develop expertise in design principles, automation systems, tooling, and operational sequences.
  • Manage project communications and relationships with subcontractors.
  • Facilitate progress and eliminate obstacles.
  • Guide the engineering team in concept development, assessing potential risks and selecting optimal concepts that meet project requirements prior to the design phase.
  • Lead training and implementation of DfX (Design for X), focusing on Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality, Serviceability, and Cost.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in mechanical automation design and engineering, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Skills & Attributes
  • Experience with engineered-to-order systems and equipment, including robotics, conveyors, and ASRS systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault Pro, and others.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Expertise in engineering best practices, automation design, material selection, manufacturing processes, robotic applications, and tooling design.
  • Ability to provide timely feedback and hold team members accountable for performance.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills. A self-motivated individual capable of working independently.
