Job Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the management of engineering projects related to capital and operational expenditures. This position requires close collaboration with departmental leaders to swiftly address operational challenges and identify potential improvements. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also partner with Maintenance Technicians to facilitate troubleshooting, maintenance, and project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project management efforts, including the planning, development, and execution of assigned capital and operational projects.
  • Enhance mechanical knowledge and expertise in tissue manufacturing and converting machinery, as well as plant utility systems, including waste management, compressed air systems, and lubrication processes.
  • Conduct all job functions in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Assist in the installation and modification of equipment, providing mechanical engineering guidance to troubleshoot and optimize processes to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive documentation system for mechanical schematics and other manufacturing systems.
  • Design and implement training programs for operational, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance process understanding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks in manufacturing processes.
  • Develop innovative technological solutions to enhance plant efficiency, improve processes, and increase manufacturing adaptability.
  • Review equipment and processes to determine necessary spare parts and coordinate procurement with maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Conduct failure analyses on mechanical systems to initiate reliability improvement measures.
  • Monitor and manage project expenditures to remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Provide regular updates on project status as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering project management within technical and industrial manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical drive systems, general machine design, engineering calculations, and plant support equipment.
  • Experienced with software tools such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, SAP, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work autonomously and execute projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and suppliers on both national and local levels.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance and reliability enhancement programs.
