Position Overview

We are currently looking for a seasoned Senior Mechanical and Plumbing Cost Consultant to deliver precise Mechanical and Plumbing cost estimates for large-scale manufacturing construction initiatives.

Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present comprehensive cost estimates and planning, culminating in the final cost plan.
  • Estimate costs at various stages, including conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and prepare procurement documentation.
  • Oversee all procurement processes, including managing pre-qualification, creating bid lists, conducting bid analyses, and compiling contractual documents.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance assessments and manage change control processes, escalating significant changes to management as necessary.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the cost management process.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports and present findings to clients.
  • Offer insights into value engineering and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team, ensuring accountability and delivery on all responsibilities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business development with existing clients, reporting these to the appropriate management and utilizing marketing resources.
  • Recommend enhancements to cost management procedures, templates, and tools, referring suggestions to management.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in preparing large-scale MEP construction cost estimates.
  • Experience in investor development, corporate occupancy, data center, and/or infrastructure construction is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical systems as they pertain to construction projects.
  • Experience with plumbing systems is advantageous.
  • Strong technical background in all areas of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account processes.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Google Suite, and/or other relevant software.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key aspects of business development.
  • Diverse knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.
