Position Overview:

Oversee a team tasked with the design, development, and maintenance of all application software and data pipelines for both real-time and batch processing, ensuring data integrity, efficiency, and quality. Collaborate seamlessly with various departments within FedEx Ground, including Data Science, E-Commerce Solutions, Supply Chain Management, and Platform Engineering, to deliver impactful platform capabilities and customer-focused solutions. Ensure that delivery teams construct, deploy, and sustain data processing frameworks that facilitate intricate analyses across data science, product development, application engineering, and strategic initiatives. Assess and adopt best practices such as API-First and Service-Oriented Architecture principles, tools, and methodologies for web-based application software, APIs, data access, and analysis, including large datasets. Uphold best practices to guarantee reliability, resilience, security, privacy, and compliance for all data assets. Mentor and guide team members to achieve results and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative field such as Mathematics or Engineering, accompanied by 7 years of relevant experience in the role or 7 years of equivalent experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative problem-solving, simulation development, or predictive analytics. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline with 5 years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of experience. The role requires proficiency in:
  • Extensive knowledge of data engineering and machine learning frameworks, including the design, development, and implementation of complex systems and data pipelines.
  • Information Systems, particularly in the design, development, and implementation of large-scale batch or online transaction systems.
  • A strong grasp of the logistics industry, competitors, and emerging technologies.
  • Leadership experience in a planning or consulting environment.
  • Experience as a leader or senior member of multi-functional project teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A related advanced degree may offset the experience requirements. This position allows for telecommuting from any location within the U.S.
