The Senior Software Engineering Manager at L3Harris Technologies is responsible for overseeing a team of skilled professionals and junior supervisors within the software engineering domain, tasked with developing intricate engineering solutions.

This role demands a profound understanding of Embedded Software Engineering and the associated principles of software development and testing.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and expertise to achieve business goals.
  • Design and implement programs aligned with company policies, priorities, and budgetary constraints.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including operational needs, training, and equipment procurement.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to other departments as necessary.
  • Drive significant enhancements in processes, systems, or products.
  • Oversee the execution of technical strategies and establish short-term operational plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Facilitate collaboration with Business Development, Program Management, and Business Leadership for strategic planning and resource sharing.
  • Stay informed about cutting-edge technology and identify emerging trends for potential incorporation into research and development initiatives.
  • Enable teams to address challenges across programs and deliver innovative solutions on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications:


A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 12 years of experience in leading technical programs, or 10 years with a Master's degree. Proven management and leadership experience in full software lifecycle development, including performance evaluations, staffing management, and software process leadership (CMMI).

Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, TDD, and Model-Based development methodologies. Experience with DevOps and a demonstrated history of building CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge of Software Reference Architectures and Software Frameworks is preferred. An active Secret Clearance is advantageous.


Additional Skills:
  • Proven ability to deliver and maintain measurable results.
  • Experience as a Lead Software Engineer in product development.
  • 8+ years of software development experience, including knowledge of UML, OOD, C/C++, embedded systems, and Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Understanding of Configuration Management and Change Control Processes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and excellence, utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles and data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and prior experience in Control Account Management (CAM).
  • Certification as a SCRUM Master, Product Owner, or Coach is a plus.
