Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing patient flow and ensuring optimal utilization of hospital resources. This position is integral to the Case Management department, focusing on enhancing patient access and facilitating smooth transitions within the healthcare system.

  • Department: Case Management
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • Organization: Ascension St. John Medical Center
  • Location: Tulsa, OK

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement a centralized system for bed management to streamline admissions and transfers, maximizing occupancy and minimizing service delays.
  • Engage with clinical teams to assess the status of pending discharges and bed availability, making informed decisions regarding bed assignments.
  • Evaluate all admissions and transfers for clinical appropriateness and medical necessity, taking necessary actions when criteria are not met.
  • Provide guidance and support to admissions coordinators to ensure effective patient access and flow.
  • Analyze bed management metrics, identify challenges, propose solutions, and prepare comprehensive reports for executive review.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Registered Nurse credential from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, obtained prior to employment or transfer.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited nursing school or required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in bedside nursing.
