Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. This role utilizes the nursing process in alignment with hospital standards and unit policies to monitor and evaluate patient functional status.
Educational Requirements: Completion of an accredited nursing program recognized by a state board of nursing, resulting in a diploma or degree.
Licensure and Certification: Must possess a valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
Experience: 0 - 6 months of relevant experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient understanding of general disease management, bio-psychosocial models, and clinical pathways. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Detail-oriented approach to clinical and numerical data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Assess and organize patient care while considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
- Document all steps of the nursing process accurately.
- Employ appropriate medical terminology in documentation.
- Address patient problems and track progress towards goals.
- Facilitate patient discharge with timely referrals and educational resources tailored to patient needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as necessary.
- Support unit and hospital objectives through participation in performance improvement and educational activities.
Decision-Making: Exercise independent judgment in decision-making from a variety of options, subject to general review in final stages.
Working Relationships: Coordinate activities with others without direct supervision. Provide leadership in tasks performed alongside peers. Engage directly with patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals and staff at various levels.
