Position Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking a skilled Public Works Project Manager to spearhead our Public Works initiatives. This role involves overseeing various projects and identifying growth opportunities to enhance AKS' service offerings in the public sector. As a Public Works Project Manager, you will collaborate with your team while providing strategic direction for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with company leaders and cross-functional teams to initiate, plan, execute, and oversee public service projects.
  • Develop professional relationships and engage in all project phases, including marketing, planning, design, production meetings, and construction.
  • Review engineering plans and project submissions for compliance.
  • Conduct quality assurance assessments to ensure adherence to development codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in public service project delivery.
  • Provide necessary information to contractors, engineers, developers, and the public.
  • Work with leadership to assess talent needs for current and future projects.
  • Perform additional duties as required by project demands.
Supervisory Duties
  • Oversee daily departmental workflow and coordinate team efforts from project conception to construction completion.
  • Lead and manage staff to effectively utilize resources in a positive environment.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and facilitate discussions regarding goals and training.
  • Address production challenges and resolve conflicts related to personalities, deadlines, and project requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new employees and guide training for new team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of public works projects, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Familiarity with local and state regulations and codes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Hands-on experience with design principles using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil preferred) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Civil Engineer, focusing on transportation, public infrastructure, drainage, utilities, and civic projects.
  • Professional Engineer license with the ability to quickly obtain reciprocity in Oregon.
  • A proven track record of successfully managed projects that demonstrate the potential for long-term business relationships and effective implementation.
