Job Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Non-Capital Construction Project Manager who will oversee the execution of various non-capital projects from initial planning through to final completion. These projects can be valued up to $3 million and encompass a range of complexities and challenges, employing diverse contracting strategies.

In this role, you will serve as the primary representative during the design and construction phases, responsible for the following key tasks:

• Leading and coordinating the project team, which includes architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, while providing essential support to ensure successful project delivery.

• Ensuring that design and construction efforts align with organizational goals while adhering to established criteria for scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards.

• Managing all aspects of assigned projects, including the involvement of all parties in design, value engineering, document reviews, contractor selection, bid document preparation, bidding processes, and overseeing construction and closeout phases.

• Guaranteeing compliance with all relevant procedures and policies throughout the various stages of non-capital construction projects.

Required Qualifications


• A master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction from an accredited institution; or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an advanced degree.

• Comprehensive understanding of site and building design and construction processes, including knowledge of LEED and accessibility standards.

• Strong communication, team-building, organizational, negotiation, project management, and record-keeping skills.

• Proven ability to form and lead a team to achieve project objectives.

• Demonstrated customer service capabilities.

• Proficiency in interpreting design and construction documents, reading construction schedules, and familiarity with building codes and construction methodologies.

• Detail-oriented with strong computer skills.

• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively, along with excellent organizational and delegation skills, and the ability to collaborate within a diverse environment.

• A valid Driver's License is required.

Preferred Qualifications


• Experience with public procurement and administrative procedures.

• Familiarity with higher education facilities.

• Proficiency in project management software, including AutoDesk products, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.

• Completion of OSHA 30 Training.
