Academic Faculty in Building Construction

Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is inviting applications for several non-tenure-track faculty roles at the ranks of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice within the Building Construction Department. This role is primarily focused on teaching and contributing to the service missions of the institution.
The Building Construction Department is committed to integrating both engineering and non-engineering educational programs, specifically in Construction Engineering and Management, as well as Building Construction.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching 3-4 courses each semester, fostering strong connections with industry professionals, and engaging in service activities that benefit both the department and the broader architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) community. Occasional travel may be required for outreach initiatives, conferences, and professional gatherings.

Required Qualifications
- A graduate or professional degree in construction or a closely related discipline.
- Proven professional experience in construction or a related field.
- Knowledge in operations, management, or pre-construction that aligns with the current curriculum, and/or expertise in areas such as design-build, construction methodologies, construction management fundamentals, and/or construction firm management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications and/or licenses in the applicant's field (e.g., PMP, CCM, PE, RA).
- Experience in teaching, with a strong record of effective instruction in higher education, supported by student evaluations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within the construction industry.
- Involvement in academic program leadership and/or professional organizations.
- Experience in serving diverse communities and fostering inclusive environments through outreach and program development.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank.
