Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is inviting applications for several non-tenure-track faculty roles at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice level within the Building Construction Department. This position is a full-time, nine-month appointment focused primarily on teaching and service responsibilities within the department.

The Building Construction Department is committed to integrating undergraduate engineering and non-engineering programs in Construction Engineering and Management and Building Construction.

The ideal candidate will be expected to instruct 3-4 courses each semester, foster strong connections with industry professionals, and contribute to the service initiatives of the department and the broader Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Occasional travel may be required for outreach activities, conferences, and other professional engagements.

Required Qualifications

- A graduate or professional degree in construction or a closely related discipline.
- Significant professional experience in construction or a related field.
- Proficiency in operations, management, or pre-construction that aligns with the current curriculum, as well as expertise in areas such as design-build, construction methods, construction management fundamentals, or construction company administration.

Preferred Qualifications

- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., PMP, CCM, PE, RA).
- Teaching experience with a proven track record of effective instruction in higher education, supported by student evaluations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within the construction industry.
- Involvement in academic program leadership or professional organizations.
- Experience in serving diverse communities and fostering inclusive environments through outreach and program development.

Salary Information

Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank.
