Job Overview

The Project Coordination Specialist will report directly to the Associate Director of Non-Capital Construction and will play a crucial role in supporting Senior Project Managers (SPM) and Project Managers (PM) in the successful execution of various non-capital projects. These projects will vary in complexity and size, and the Specialist will assist in overseeing the project lifecycle from initial conception to final completion, utilizing diverse contracting approaches.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with SPM and PMs to manage and coordinate project teams, including architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring that all project objectives align with the established criteria for scope, budget, timeline, and quality.
- Aid in the administration of project management tasks, including design, value engineering, document reviews, construction processes, occupancy, project closeout, warranty, and financial oversight.
- Serve as the primary liaison for smaller projects, working under the guidance of SPM/PM to ensure successful outcomes.

Required Qualifications

- A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction from an accredited institution, or equivalent training and experience.
- Familiarity with site and building design and construction methodologies.
- Proficient in essential software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with a diverse range of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

- Understanding of various construction project delivery methods.
- Experience with construction management software tools (e.g., MS Project, Bluebeam, Primavera, BIM/Revit, LaserFiche).
- Previous experience in a construction role within a higher education context.
- Familiarity with the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is advantageous.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
