Advanced Practice Provider - Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant

This role is integral to our esteemed Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant team, focusing on inpatient care. Our team is at the forefront of innovative treatments, including clinical trials for gene therapy addressing blood disorders and pioneering combined kidney and stem cell transplant procedures.
We encourage personal statements from applicants. Please note that this position requires a minimum of one year of advanced practice experience, with a preference for candidates with backgrounds in Stem Cell Transplant or Pediatric Intensive Care.

Nurse Practitioner (NP): The Nurse Practitioner operates under the established Nurse Practitioner Standardized Process Protocol. Responsibilities include delivering routine care and managing patients with both acute and chronic conditions, in collaboration with supervising physicians, while adhering to standardized procedures.
Physician Assistant (PA): The Physician Assistant functions under the approved Physician Assistant Role Description. Responsibilities include collaborating with supervising physicians to establish specific functions related to the service or department.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following are typical responsibilities associated with this position. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional duties as assigned.
All employees must comply with Joint Commission Requirements, which include but are not limited to cultural sensitivity, patient rights, ethical treatment, safety protocols, teamwork, and ongoing education.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing medical services within the scope of competence, consistent with education and training.
- Consulting with supervising physicians for tasks beyond the NP/PA's competence.
- Evaluating and treating patients with various health concerns.
- Conducting thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Prescribing medications and managing treatment plans.
- Coordinating patient admissions and discharges.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives and patient education.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision is provided by designated physicians with clinical privileges at the hospital. Various supervision mechanisms may be employed, including:
- Direct supervision by attending physicians.
- Chart audits and ongoing performance evaluations.
Candidates must possess the necessary education and experience to fulfill the role's requirements.
For Physician Assistants (PA):
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Graduation from an accredited PA program.
For Nurse Practitioners (NP):
- Master's or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- Graduation from an accredited NP program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
For Physician Assistants (PA):
- Licensure as a Physician Assistant in California.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
For Nurse Practitioners (NP):
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in California.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in California.
- National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
