Are you adept at media engagement and passionate about assisting organizations in narrating their stories? We are currently seeking a Senior Communications Specialist, External Affairs with strategic and comprehensive expertise in public affairs and public relations. This role requires a creative and natural storyteller who embodies a blend of tenacity and patience, along with a keen interest in all traditional facets of Cyber Communications. The Senior Communications Specialist will manage media relations and serve as the primary communications partner across the entire Directorate. This position demands flexibility and collaboration, along with a solid understanding of social media, media relations, content strategy, and corporate reputation.

This is a hybrid position requiring occasional on-site collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with the communications team and business leaders to devise content and campaign strategies aimed at engaging all stakeholders, including investors, current and prospective customers, and the general public.

· Drive proactive story development and execution, crafting strategies and plans for print, broadcast, and digital storytelling.

· Oversee the creation of owned content (e.g., blogs, video segments) and earned media opportunities.

· Manage the organization’s social media channels, including content creation and administration across all platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) while monitoring site metrics and activity.

· Act as the primary advisor, providing public and media relations guidance for business leaders in innovation, start-up, and licensing initiatives.

· Identify emerging news trends that may influence the organization and guide communications planning and response.

· Align and synchronize with internal communications efforts.

· Oversee message development and collaborate with the communications team to ensure all internal and external narratives, as well as social and digital properties, reflect the most current key messaging.

· Mentor and manage the professional development of junior staff to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively.

Required Qualifications:

· U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

· High-Level Government Clearance is mandated by contract.

· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, or a related field.

· A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Proven ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience supporting senior executives, preferably in high-tech or science-oriented sectors.

· Proficiency in creating and executing campaigns utilizing social media strategies and tactics to reach targeted audiences.

· Familiarity with a wide range of media formats: digital, print, television, radio, technology, and scientific trade publications.

· Experience in technology-related communications with a demonstrated ability to understand and articulate technology-driven solutions.

· Exceptional writing and editing skills; writing samples will be requested, and other portfolio samples are encouraged.

· Strong project management capabilities and a willingness to manage multiple projects for various clients simultaneously.
