Are you adept at media engagement and passionate about assisting organizations in narrating their stories? We are currently seeking a Senior Communications Specialist, External Affairs with comprehensive strategic and tactical expertise in public affairs and public relations. This role requires a creative storyteller who embodies a blend of determination and patience, with a keen interest in all traditional facets of Cyber Communications. The Senior Communications Specialist will manage media relations and serve as the primary communications liaison across the entire Directorate. This position is characterized by flexibility and collaboration, necessitating a solid understanding of social media, media relations, content strategy, and corporate reputation management.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with the communications team and organizational leaders to craft content and campaign strategies designed to engage all stakeholders, including investors, current and prospective clients, and the general public.

· Proactively develop and execute storytelling strategies, creating plans for print, broadcast, and digital narratives.

· Oversee the creation of owned content (e.g., blogs, video productions) and pursue earned media opportunities.

· Manage the organization’s social media platforms, including content creation and administration across all channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), while monitoring site metrics and engagement.

· Act as the primary advisor, providing public and media relations guidance for business leaders in innovation, start-up, and licensing initiatives.

· Identify emerging news trends that may influence the organization and drive communication strategies and responses.

· Coordinate and align with internal communication efforts.

· Oversee message development and collaborate with the communications team to ensure all internal and external narratives, as well as social and digital properties, reflect the most current key messaging.

· Supervise and mentor junior staff to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively.

Required Qualifications:

· U.S. Citizenship is mandated by federal government for this position.

· High-Level Government Clearance is required by contract.

· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, or a related field.

· A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Proven ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

· Experience supporting senior executives, ideally in high-tech or science-oriented sectors.

· Demonstrated experience in creating and executing campaigns with social media strategies aimed at targeted audiences.

· Familiarity with a wide range of media formats: digital, print, television, radio, and scientific trade publications.

· Experience in technology-related communications with a proven ability to articulate technology-driven solutions.

· Exceptional writing and editing skills; writing samples will be requested, and other portfolio examples are encouraged.

· Strong project management capabilities and a willingness to handle multiple projects for various clients simultaneously.
