Role Purpose

The Analyst's primary responsibility is to assist the investment team in research, monitoring, trading, and the execution of investment strategies. This position involves a blend of macroeconomic analysis, market research, and manager evaluations, functioning as a generalist investment analyst while also providing trade support and facilitating investment implementation for our private funds.

The ideal candidate will excel in managing multiple projects and deadlines, demonstrating a strong enthusiasm for learning about financial markets and investment strategies. Over time, this individual will advance to a senior investment analyst role, becoming a vital contributor to the team's investment strategy and manager evaluations.

This position offers significant visibility within the organization, providing extensive exposure to leading investment managers in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a portfolio of active investments across various asset classes and strategies, serving as the firm's liaison with those managers. The complexity of strategies will evolve with experience and expertise.
  • Act as the primary backup to the Head of Trading for daily trading operations.
  • Conduct thorough market and manager assessments for potential investments or terminations under the guidance of senior analysts.
  • Engage in meetings with investment managers and distribute meeting notes.
  • Prepare materials and actively participate in Investment Team, Committee, and Strategy meetings.
  • Draft memos and presentations, along with other communications to support the firm's investment initiatives and client advisor relationships.
  • Provide operational support for private funds, including managing capital flows, investment subscriptions/redemptions, and other projects as necessary.
Additional Duties
  • Manage data entry, organization, and reporting of investment indices and manager performance databases on a daily and bi-weekly basis.
  • Maintain approved manager exposure and attribution data, conducting actionable analyses.
  • Continuously monitor and identify performance drivers, risks, and relevant news concerning covered managers and associated strategies.
  • Comprehend investment processes, operations, and structures of investment managers.
  • Utilize proprietary research tools to facilitate ongoing qualitative and quantitative due diligence of diverse investment strategies.
  • Build relationships with industry contacts to support due diligence on both existing and prospective investment opportunities.
  • Source and evaluate potential new investment opportunities.
  • Regularly collaborate with the client service team to provide updates on portfolio investments ahead of client/prospect meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in finance or investment analysis.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, economics, and the investment sector.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Process-oriented and proactive with outstanding problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg, Orion/Eclipse, Pitchbook, and YCharts is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a significant portion of the time.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as calculators, copiers, and printers.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively so that others can understand, ensuring accurate information exchange in various situations.
