Position Overview

The Senior Loan Review Specialist will act as a key support to the Department Head, Chief Loan Review Officer, in setting strategic goals and objectives while leading a team of reviewers to achieve these targets. This role is crucial in providing an unbiased evaluation of credit risk by analyzing portfolio trends and reviewing individual loans and portfolios for compliance with established policies and procedures, appropriate supervision, accurate risk ratings, and sound underwriting practices.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Support the Loan Review Department Manager in defining departmental goals, objectives, and strategic plans.
  • Assist in the deployment of necessary tools and methodologies to achieve these objectives.
  • Facilitate the department's follow-up on identified concerns.
  • Conduct independent evaluations of credit quality.
  • Review the accuracy and timeliness of risk ratings assigned by loan officers.
  • Test compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant federal laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate the management oversight of lending portfolios.
  • Prepare comprehensive written and oral communications and reports.
  • Identify, communicate, and advocate for issues requiring corrective action and suggest improvements.
  • Collaborate with and support other credit-related functions within the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for regulatory bodies and the Audit Committee as directed.
  • Engage in due diligence activities for potential acquisitions.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Junior Loan Review Officers and Loan Review Officers.
  • Guide and motivate Junior Loan Review Officers and Loan Review Officers in fulfilling departmental objectives.
  • Assess investment security risk ratings in accordance with organizational standards.
Qualifications

-Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of six years' experience as a Loan Review Officer, or a High School Diploma/GED with at least ten years' experience in roles such as Loan Review Officer, Commercial Credit Analyst, or Commercial Loan Officer.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and the aforementioned experience is preferred.
