Position Overview

The Senior Loan Review Specialist will act as a key partner to the Department Head, Chief Loan Review Officer, in setting strategic objectives and leading a team of reviewers to achieve these targets. This role will deliver an impartial evaluation of credit risk by analyzing portfolio patterns and scrutinizing individual loans and portfolios for compliance with established policies and procedures, effective oversight, appropriate risk classifications, and sound underwriting practices.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Support the Loan Review Department Manager in defining departmental goals, objectives, and strategic plans.
  • Assist in deploying the necessary tools and methodologies to meet these objectives.
  • Facilitate the department's follow-up on recognized issues.
  • Conduct independent evaluations of credit quality.
  • Assess the accuracy and promptness of risk ratings assigned by loan officers.
  • Examine compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Verify adherence to relevant federal laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate the management oversight of lending portfolios.
  • Draft written and oral communications and reports.
  • Identify, articulate, and advocate for issues requiring corrective measures and other enhancement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with and support other credit-related functions within the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for regulatory and Audit Committees as needed.
  • Engage in due diligence activities for potential acquisitions.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior Loan Review Officers and Loan Review Officers.
  • Guide and support Junior Loan Review Officers and Loan Review Officers in fulfilling departmental objectives.
  • Evaluate investment security risk ratings in accordance with company standards.
Qualifications

-Essential Skills:
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency in performing calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of six years' experience as a Loan Review Officer, or a High School Diploma/GED with at least ten years' experience in roles such as Loan Review Officer, Commercial Credit Analyst, or Commercial Loan Officer.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and the aforementioned experience is preferred.
