Associate Director, Office of Conflict Education and Student Accountability

Job Summary:

The George Washington University seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as Associate Director of the Office of Conflict Education and Student Accountability. This key leadership position will play a critical role in promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability within the university community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the daily operations of addressing behavioral student misconduct, including off-campus, student organization cases, and Alcohol Medical Amnesty.
  • Supervise two Conduct and Conflict Management Specialists and the office's Administrative Assistant, providing coaching, training, and mentoring to ensure the highest level of performance.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including academic integrity cases and a full range of sanctioning possibilities, facilitating panels of the University Integrity & Conduct Council as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain collaborations with key colleagues and offices, including Athletics, Counseling & Psychological Services, Disability Support Services, Health Promotion & Education, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, Office of General Counsel, GWPD, Student Life, and other relevant colleagues.
  • Facilitate and develop training for professional staff, paraprofessional staff, students, faculty, and other GW community members on topics such as student conduct, restorative practices, and conflict management.
  • Respond to inquiries from GW campus constituencies, preparing reports and data analysis for use in the assessment and improvement of CESA's work and impact on the community.
  • Act as a liaison to the faculty, staff, students, and the Office of General Counsel related to academic and non-academic misconduct issues, as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity for excellent written and verbal communication, with experience working in academic and non-academic student conduct and conflict management services.
  • Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of conflict management and restorative practices, as well as inclusion and equity practices.
  • Knowledge of current student learning practices in the area of student conduct and conflict management, as well as higher education, FERPA, Clery, Title IX, VAWA, and related compliance laws and issues.
  • Strong supervision, communication, and organizational skills, with experience collaborating in a teamwork environment with shifting priorities.
Work Environment:

This position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC, and requires on-campus presence.
