About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Systems Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin. As a key member of our Missiles and Fire Control division, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and testing GNC, tracking, and servo control algorithm solutions for missile and fire control products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, integrate, and test GNC, tracking, and/or servo control algorithm solutions for missile and fire control products.
  • Modeling and Simulation: Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF) and effects-based simulations.
  • System Performance Evaluation: Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements.
  • Critical Studies and Analyses: Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities.
Support and Collaboration
  • Ground and Flight Test Support: Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
  • Program Reviews and Meetings: Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Candidate must have a BS/MS degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar.
  • Clearance: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a DoD secret clearance. An interim secret clearance is required to start.
  • Skills and Experience: Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments based on completed course work or professional experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency with C++ programming, Matlab, Python, and Linux.
  • System Performance Assessment: Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses.
  • Target Tracking and Navigation: Experience designing and analyzing target tracking and terrestrial navigation systems.
  • Optimal State Estimation: Experience with optimal state estimation filters such as extended Kalman filters (EKF).
  • Probability and Statistics: Demonstrated skills in probability, statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering: Experience with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Real-Time Algorithm Deployment: Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements.
  • System and Subsystem Requirements: Experience verifying/validating system and subsystem requirements.
  • Software Configuration Management: Familiarity with software configuration management and software unit testing.
