Job Title: Learning Specialist, Student Athlete

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning Specialist, Student Athlete to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to student-athletes, helping them to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess student-athletes' academic backgrounds and skills to identify specific needs and develop strategies to support their academic success.
  • Provide intensive academic guidance and support to assigned student-athletes with high learning support needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership and relevant departments to develop and deliver lesson plans and course content to teach study skills and acclimatization skills during student-athlete summer bridge.
  • Develop and maintain individualized academic plans for assigned student-athletes, including those diagnosed with education-impacting disabilities.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of sessions with students and their academic progress.
  • Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, and FERPA regulations at all times.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
  • One (1) year of academic experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations concerning athletic eligibility.
  • Experience with disability services or familiarity with academic accommodations.
  • Experience with academic testing and resources.
  • Experience working with Division I student-athletes.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Able to implement strategies and interpret educational testing results.
  • Able to remediate knowledge deficiencies.
  • Able to work as a productive member of a team dedicated to student success.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines.
