Role Overview

The Student Success Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding students through their academic journey, providing essential information about program requirements and academic procedures. This position focuses on helping students explore career options, assess their academic strengths, and establish their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:
1. Deliver exceptional academic advising services to both current and prospective students.
2. Create multi-semester academic plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines, aligning students' interests with their professional aspirations.
3. Connect students with relevant academic and support services to enhance their success, while maintaining detailed records of advising sessions.
4. Engage with students through formal meetings to foster meaningful relationships.
5. Participate in orientation and pre-orientation advising sessions for new students and their families.
6. Contribute to institutional initiatives aimed at promoting student success.
7. Employ best practices derived from analyzing advising metrics and student success data.
8. Assist in coordinating communication regarding important academic milestones and deadlines.
9. Monitor and document student retention and progression, providing proactive outreach to ensure student success.

Qualifications

Required:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
A minimum of one year in a student support or success-related role.

Preferred:
Experience within a higher education environment and a demonstrated commitment to academic advising as a vital component of student success.

Skills and Abilities

Essential Abilities:
Ability to manage confidential student information and interact effectively with a diverse student population. Willingness to work flexible hours to support college initiatives.
Knowledge:
Engagement in ongoing professional development to enhance advising effectiveness.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, along with proficiency in relevant software applications.
