Job Summary

The Admissions Outreach Officer is responsible for managing a designated geographic area as part of the nationwide recruitment initiative within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

This role involves traveling to the assigned territory and maintaining current knowledge and oversight to identify and engage prospective students, feeder schools, and potential growth markets.


The Admissions Outreach Officer will employ exceptional customer service, relationship-building, presentation, technological, and data analysis skills to recruit prospective students, report on territory activities, and provide recruitment data to management for market prioritization.

The officer will present information about the University of South Carolina's student experience to students, parents, and high school counselors, advising them on admissions policies and procedures.

This position requires extensive travel and seasonal overtime.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.

Independent travel within the assigned geographic region for student recruitment and professional development is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with USC. Experience in admissions, customer service, marketing, sales, public relations, or related fields is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to connect with individuals, possess an engaging personality, and speak confidently in front of groups.
  • Exceptional customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with prospective students, families, guidance counselors, and other stakeholders.
  • Understanding of secondary and postsecondary education systems is preferred.
  • Ability to assess academic credentials and market data for the assigned territory.
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer.
  • Capability to deliver public presentations, counsel individuals, and maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Ability to organize special programs and travel independently within the recruitment territory.
  • Must be able to drive during both day and night.
  • Strong writing skills are essential.
