Behavioral Health Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Behavioral Health Assistant to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. The successful candidate will work closely with our Behavioral Health Department to provide support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist Behavioral Health Specialists and Behavior Analysts in the development of Skills Acquisition Plans (SAPs) and/or Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs)
• Take, enter, monitor, and report various forms of data and complete behavioral, psychiatric, preference, strengths, functional, adaptive skills, or other assessments as needed
• Train direct care staff in implementing PBSPs, SAPs, and/or provide special treatment sessions
• Contribute to individuals' overall care plan by gathering information and data from direct care and clinical staff
• Collect, enter, tabulate, and report on behavioral, SAP, and/or restraint data as needed
• Attend and participate in assigned meetings, such as interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings
• Administer or assist in administering various behavioral, psychiatric, preference, strengths, functional, adaptive skills, or other assessments as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned, including actively participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation
Requirements:
• Knowledge of behavioral analysis theories and practice, regulatory guidelines, and facility operations and policies
• Ability to implement educational and behavioral treatment and therapy, work with interdisciplinary teams, train staff, communicate effectively, and use computers and relevant software
• Skills to observe and accurately document challenging behaviors and/or skills acquisition, model appropriate implementation of plans, monitor staff implementation of plans, coach direct care and other staff, document data and progress accurately, and enter and report data from the electronic records system and Excel
