About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director, Subscription Growth to join our dynamic Consumer Organization within Hearst Magazines. This role will be responsible for accelerating the digital growth of our subscriber base across many iconic and beloved brands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Subscription Strategy: Develop and execute the overall subscription strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead Subscription Initiatives: Lead the development and implementation of innovative subscription offerings that drive customer acquisition, retention, and monetization.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, marketing, editorial, and finance to ensure seamless execution of subscription initiatives.
  • Analyze Market Trends: Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and optimization.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the performance of subscription programs and initiatives.
  • Lead and Manage Subscriptions Team: Provide leadership and guidance to the subscriptions team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish Partnerships: Establish and manage partnerships with external vendors, content providers, and other stakeholders to enhance the value proposition of subscription offerings.
  • Optimize Pricing and Promotions: Monitor and optimize pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies to maximize subscription revenue and profitability.
  • Stay Informed on Industry Developments: Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, consumer insights, and regulatory developments related to subscription business models.
  • Identify Growth Opportunities: Identify, prioritize, and resource key growth opportunity areas.
  • Present Updates and Insights: Present regular updates, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead and Inspire Team Members: Inspire, coach, and lead a team of diverse and high-performing team members.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with 10+ years' experience, MBA preferred.
  • Recurring Revenue Experience: Experience with recurring revenue business models, experience within media or publishing industry experience a plus.
  • Leadership and Management: A proven leader and people manager, who can juggle high-level strategic thinking and ground-level implementation.
  • Results-Oriented: Results-oriented, track record of delivering measurable results and achieving KPIs.
  • Analytical and Data-Driven: Analytical with a data-driven mindset with experience in forecasting, modeling, planning, and pricing sophistication.
  • Digital Marketing Technology: In-depth understanding of a digital marketing technology stack and how to collaborate with product and engineering resources.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Clear verbal and written communication skills can effectively convey strategy and results to stakeholders, and drive excitement across a cross-functional organization.
  • Collaborative and Resourceful: Highly collaborative, cross-functional leader, comfortable with both direct and indirect reporting arrangements.
