Medical Coding Specialist

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at TEKsystems. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of medical coding for our clients.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Ensure charges are coded accurately from medical records and entered into the billing system
* Code medical records for surgical practices using ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 coding conventions
* Assign specified codes to medical diagnoses and clinical procedures
* Decipher operative reports and physician documentation to select codes and maximize charge capture
* Ensure coding compliance with established standards and guidelines
* Liaise between clinical and billing departments

**Requirements**

* Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or related credential from AHIMA or AAPC required
* 2+ years' experience with coding Perinatal and/or OBGYN professional services preferred
* Proficient in assigning and abstracting ICD-10-CM and CPT codes from provider documentation
* 1+ years' EPIC experience required
* Advanced knowledge of NCCI edits and medical necessity
* Ability to work in remote setting with little to no training and supervision
