Position Overview

At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where every interaction is significant, the Hospitality Services Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring safe, hygienic, and inviting environments for students, staff, faculty, and visitors across various settings.

This role involves working within the Nebraska City Union and encompasses routine tasks related to cleaning and general maintenance, including offices, public spaces, restrooms, conference areas, and other locations as required, to provide a clean, safe, and well-kept atmosphere for our students, guests, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities include maintaining hard floor surfaces and carpeted areas, as well as mixing cleaning solutions according to established guidelines. Depending on the location, responsibilities may also include event setup and conference operations tasks.

Candidates may be considered for higher-level positions based on their qualifications.

Depending on the assigned level, the role may involve training and supervising the work of others and:

  • Responding to on-call situations, including Blood Borne Pathogens cleanup and other emergency responses during shifts
  • Operating all non-riding and non-autonomous equipment
  • Managing supply orders

As a Hospitality Services Support Specialist, the position will receive ongoing supervision and specific guidelines throughout the training and development process.

When appointed as a Hospitality Services Assistant, Associate, or Senior Associate, the individual will regularly perform the tasks associated with that level.

Performance will be continuously evaluated to ensure proficiency in these skills at an acceptable standard.
