Support Services Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
Support Services Specialists (SSS) engage in essential, professional activities aimed at delivering training and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their residences and/or various community settings. This assistance and training are designed to enhance the individual's skills and help them achieve personal objectives while fostering relationships within the community.
The individual in this role may be required to operate in diverse environments. Work hours will be arranged according to individual requirements, which may encompass evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. Participation in various training sessions will be mandatory, enabling the SSS to broaden their expertise and deliver high-quality services.
ELIGIBLE FOR A $1000 NEW HIRE INCENTIVE.WORK SCHEDULE
We are seeking full-time candidates, with both 30 and 40-hour workweek options available. Flexible scheduling allows for the possibility of setting your own hours, which may include days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts, with potential overtime opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitating a fulfilling day for individuals by providing structured training and tailored support based on their unique needs and desired outcomes.Participating in team meetings to ensure that the training and support provided align with the individual's needs and aspirations.Collaborating with the individual, their family, and other team members to identify the person's desired outcomes, including involvement in assessments as recommended by the team.Creating training programs and maintaining accurate records and reports to ensure accountability and compliance with regulatory standards.Regularly reviewing training programs to promote personal development and ensure individual progress, making adjustments as necessary.Acting as a positive role model and educator for the individual regarding social behaviors, personal hygiene, language, and grooming, utilizing teachable moments.Cooperating with consultants, supervisors, and other agency personnel to assist in meeting the individual's needs.Instructing and enforcing safety protocols in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.Maintaining a flexible schedule that can be adapted to meet individual training and support needs.Assisting the individual in addressing their nutritional and dietary requirements.Obtaining certification as a Medication Aide, if necessary, and adhering to all laws and regulations regarding medication administration.Providing necessary supervision and training to the individual in various community settings to enhance their social roles.Helping individuals improve their community image by supporting their personal appearance and hygiene.Offering transportation and assistance as needed to enhance the individual's community access skills.Attending staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to continually enhance job performance.Assisting individuals in managing their personal finances in strict accordance with established procedures.Performing additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of training individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs, including personal care.Capacity to contribute positively to the team environment.Ability to meet the physical demands of the service location.Lifting may be necessary at the service location; if equipment is available, it must be utilized.Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Ability to accept guidance and complete assigned tasks.Ability to identify and report situations that require supervisory input.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge.Preferred one year of experience in the human services field.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license or other reliable means of transportation.Must have a dependable means of communication.Will undergo a criminal history background check and may be subject to drug and alcohol screening.SALARY RANGE
$15.31-$16.41 per hour
