Role Purpose: This position will assist in the origination and execution of equity and equity-linked capital markets transactions, including but not limited to initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, convertible equity, and share repurchases. There will be regular interaction with senior team members and significant opportunities for career advancement and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct market and financial analysis, including comparable transactions, trading/technical trends, and valuation assessments.
  • Create and maintain databases primarily focused on the equity new issue marketplace in the U.S. and Scotiabank's operations therein.
  • Prepare and compile client presentations.
  • Support various internal projects aimed at investigating and enhancing new business initiatives.
  • Assist in the execution of new issue transactions, including the development of internal memoranda, liaising with internal committees, and collaborating with external transaction partners (e.g., other banks, legal counsel, accountants).
  • Draft and review transaction documentation.
  • Coordinate with other departments within Scotiabank, including Investment Banking and Sales & Trading.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to work diligently, including extended hours.
  • Working knowledge of various financial asset classes through relevant coursework and/or prior employment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential for the successful candidate.
